Survey • Creative approach to site management • Installation
This was a project in Central London, located off Shaftsbury Avenue and Piccadilly Circus. Because of the busy location, there was a very high demand for parking and planning deliveries, as well as issues with traffic and access to the location.
We had to survey the existing walls and grid lines whilst the building was being demolished to ensure the building phase was ready to fit in with the programme. A basin needed to be dug and there was meticulous planning. Getting the crane into position involved the unique approach of building a ramp. Some areas of the steel structure had to be built from the top down due to the crane position. This all involved very close coordination with ground workers, concrete workers and contractors. Mindset was everything with this project. It felt more like a highly coordinated partnership than a construction site. The project grew in size and impressiveness to coincide with customer demand with greatly extended scope, including an extra floor level and staircases. We exceeded expectations for the client, from the original plan.
