Wessex Water
Work undertaken
Roof over reservoir
Wessex Water supply water for a around 1.3 million people in the South West of the UK. They had a concrete reservoir for maintaining water that required a steel roof over the top. The roof structure was a green roof, meaning it had soil and grass on top of it.
We used curved Westok beams with end to end spliced connections. There was a tolerance challenge due to the nature of Westock beams being cut and reconnected, so these had to be reworked to ensure the correct tolerances were met. All connecting purlins had to be of structural PFC members, to hold the steel membrane. Each Westok beam had to be craned into pre-made concrete pockets, with a requirement for accurate design and fabrication.
